A trained assassin…a man even the deadliest of warriors fear. To cross him is foolish. To steal his heart is pure madness.
Book two in King of Prey series.
Sachin, head advisor to the king of the Accipitridae realm, has been forced to put his trips to Earth on hold. He’s not been honest with himself or King Kabril about his need to visit the primitive planet. The king thinks him to be a womanizer, out to bed as many human females as possible.
In truth, a woman he should have been able to woo with little to no effort—his mate—has found someone else to fill that void in her life. She wasn’t supposed to be on Earth. She wasn’t supposed to be human. And she sure the hell wasn’t supposed to agree to marry another man while Sachin was away.
Sachin must make a choice, give up the one woman he knows to be his true mate and let her live in ignorant bliss of what walks among her people, or fight for what’s his, taking it at all costs. A trained assassin…a man even the deadliest of warriors fear. To cross him is foolish. To steal his heart is pure madness.

(This review may contain spoilers)I like this book the least of all the 5 in this series that I've read so far. I didn't like how Paige cheated on her fiancee with Sachin just because she "couldn't help herself", because her hormones overruled her brain as well as her sense of self-preservation whenever she got close to Sachin. That is a lousy excuse.
It also didn't make sense that Sachin kept fighting against his feelings for her, since his king has taken a human mate and Sachin now knows it's acceptable to have a human mate. I didn't like how he abandoned Paige and hurt her feelings, yet the moment he comes back into her life she's ALL OVER HIM. He doesn't even really apologise or explain, either. Not exactly hero material.
What I did like: they have a long history and were friends for years before anything happened.

A View to a Kill A Bird Shifter Novella King of Prey Book 2 edition by Mandy M Roth Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
I really loved the way this book is written. Sachin, the bird shifer who is the head soldier/advisor in King Kabril's army is a fearless and a mighty warrior. He quivers to no man. That's what makes it so cute when he is intimated by the child he saved years ago who later holds his heart in the palm of her hand. Paige is fiery enough to make him nervous and endeared to him to the point that he "poops" on (of course in shifted form) and pulls a "Jedi Mind Trick" on a man that has romantic interest in her. I read this twice because I enjoyed it so much.
I love this series. We met Sachin in the first story, he is the Advisor to the king and I fell in love with him there. This story's timeline starts before the series started. Sachin is returning to Accipitridae when the sound of a gunshot causes him to investigate. He finds is a young girl hiding from a man who is attempting to hunt her down after he has killed her Mother. He takes her to Sarah and keeps visiting her over the years. They fall in love over the years and have a falling apart, after which he leaves for a year. Paige has decided to move on with her life and then Sachin returns. There is fighting, steamy and funny scenes. I love seeing them come together.
Mandy M. Roth is continuing her reign of best author of paranormal romances she shines yet again in her second bird shifter novel. I waited so long for the second book hoping not to be disappointed in the next novel like I have in the past from other authors but Ms Roth did not disappoint. She weaved a tale of shifter love the likes of which I haven't read. I don't know how she manages it but I hope she continues, Sachin was amazing in a book of his own she was able to incorporate other characters without taking from the true storyline awesomeness. If you haven't fell in love with bird shifters yet you are clearly not readying Ms Roth.
Second in King of Prey series and doesn't disappoint! Great read for bedtime since it is short (also available on audio if you like to listen instead). Sachin fell for a human women he rescued years before Kabril and Rayna met but doesn't think he can be with her due to the fact she has no idea what he is. He bonds with her and leaves because he starts to shift and doesn't return, after a year he is so miserable he can't stand himself and he is pretty much walking around taking everyones head off. Rayna orders him to go to earth for a week and get whatever is wrong with him straightened out. He does only to find that his love Paige not thrilled to see him and neither is her fiance. OUCH! Some interesting situations ensue, including an attack from the Falcon Peregrinus and some steamy scenes behind trees and the bar. If you enjoy Mandy Roth's othet books you're sure to enjoy this one as well.
Mandy Roth's World-Building takes me there! Another tightly plotted adventure that continues from book one, but stands on its own merits.
I am grateful that Mandy has not chosen the example of many authors who offer short incomplete enticements, making one purchase book after book to get the complete story and a HEA. Each of Mandy's stories stands on its own. They are complete stories right to the delightful epilogue.
We quickly learn that Sachin is a 400 year old immortal hawk living in a world at war with the equally immortal falcons. Although their world is beautiful, countless battles have decimated both populations. No baby hawks nor falcons have been born in memory. What good is immortality if you kill each other off. Indeed, both populations are in serious trouble.
Both populations have a low opinion of humans, too. They have seen the pollution, the over-population by the humans at the expense of sufficient space and resources for the other species that inhabit their world. Even though they have short lives, they too might find themselves at an end due to their inability to be good stewards of their world. Why would any of the hawks or falcons wish to mate with a human? Oh yeah, Sachin's king, Kabril fell in love with a human, and she is now Queen of the Hawks and Kabril's heart. AND, Queen Rayna is expecting triplets! They do have their uses. Sachin makes frequent trips to their realm to bed their women. Lots of women. His prowess with women is almost on a par with his abilities as a warrior, counselor, and assassin for the Hawks.
Returning from one of his sexual escapades, he detects a serious altercation and the quiet sounds of a female in distress. He finds a young girl hiding and her mother killed. The man who killed the mother is now searching for the young girl. Sachin dispatches the murderer and carries a severely traumatized young 18 year old girl, Paige, to safety. She is not aware that he has flown her to Sarah's home, close to the portal between their two worlds. Sarah is an animal healer and teaches her gift to Paige.
Over the next three years Sachin stops by to see Paige often. He feels an unusual attraction to her, but knows humans generally wait until they are 21 to indulge in sexual relations. On her 21st birthday, Sachin arrives, much to the delight of Paige. They make love for the first time, and Sachin finds himself reciting the words of the traditional mating ceremony and calling her his true love.
He can now, for the first time hear her thoughts and she his. These developments confuse and distress him, and rather than discuss them with Paige, he flies home immediatley, leaving a bewildered and upset Paige behind.
Time for you to purchase this wonderful book and look at all the details added for your enjoyment with hints of the future books. You get your Happily Ever After and laughter, too!
